Ideas for an Outsider Con
Surrealist Ball (click on the blue words for link to video or web)
OutsiderCon is a con that is using the concept of "A Con" as an medium of artistic expression. It is to foray into many fanbases and interests that are outside the sphere of comic-con, anime-con, gaming-con, sci-fi cons, horror-con, and other nerdy cons to explore other fanbases and experiences.
Thus, Surrealist Ball is a way to explore that by offering an experience not always accessible.
SPYCON, which is a con that happened in the 80's, and sometimes sporadically in other cities, is a fanbase to explore. The creativity of which SPYCON can go far, thus starting at the core base of Eurospy and 1960's Spy shows like UNCLE, Get Smart, Mission Impossible, and especially, Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner; Secret Agent Dangerman, The Avengers (Patrick McNee), Gerry Andreson, and other ITC spy shows. Not limited to spy, but also encompasses the 60's like Counter-Culture and psychedelic rock. With great films like In Like Flint and Dean Martin's Matt Helm series, theres a lot to work with in terms of cosplay, like Carnaby Street, etc. The activities and panels of espionage and spy games are very fruitful and fun, and also educational.
Plus there are an infinite world of fandom and experiences to explore in OutsiderCon.
Like Kung Fu Con, where Kung Fu films and martial arts seminars and fight shows can be experienced.
In this Pony Festish video, we see someone say, "The Freedom to be Weird" In this con we have the freedom to be weird.
These are just a few ideas, and theres more to explore to put together Outsider Con.
